Sudoku Variants Series (329) - Lucky Charms Sudoku

(Published on 14. July 2021, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Lucky Charms Sudoku
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Each symbol is a ‘Lucky Charm’. Equal Lucky Charms must be replaced by equal digits, different ones by different digits. A Lucky Charm has exactly as many neighbouring digits that are at most one higher or lower than the digit itself. When the Lucky Charm is a 6, exactly six neighbouring cells contain a 5, 6 or 7. A Lucky Charm of 1 has exactly one 1 or 2 as neigbhour. All possible Lucky Charms are given.

Inspiration for this type comes from cam.

@Henry

Yes, this is a breakfast cereal that is available in the US, UK, and Canada. It's made from oats, but it has little colorful marshmallow pieces with the designs you see above (plus a few others).

@cam: thanks for your kind words! :-)

@cam: Who are "they" and what set of charms are being replaced? Richard mentioned breakfast, is this some cereal?

@Henry

Yes, this is a pot of gold. That's what they had when I was a kid, but now I think they replaced the pot of gold with a unicorn charm.

Oh wow! This was one of my favorite puzzle constraints :)

I can't wait to try it!

EDIT: Fantastic! I absolutely adore this puzzle. This is significantly more entertaining than it's predecessor. Thanks :)

@Henry: I don't know. I am not familiar with this type of breakfast. :-)

@henry: haha, I understand. Thanks! While constructing in Excel, I worked with coloured cells. While testing it were A's, B's etcetera. Only in this last version, I worked with the symbols, which I copied from cam's puzzle.
