Disjointed Rainbow

(Published on 3. June 2021, 01:01 by thoughtbyte)

Normal sudoku rules apply. In addition, the following rules hold:

1. XV: cells separated by an X must sum to 10; cells separated by a V must sum to 5; all possible Xs and Vs in box 5 are given.

Repeat: all possible Xs and Vs in box 5 are given.

2. Kropki: a white dot indicates that the adjacent cells differ by 1; a black dot indicates that one of the adjacent cells is twice the other.

3. Disjoint groups: no number can repeat in the same position in 3x3 boxes.

4. Numbers cannot repeat in extra regions.

The logic path is intended to be discovered via coloring.

repeating the negative constraint for box 5

UGH! Amazing puzzle, but i totally missed the "all possible Xs and Vs in box 5 are given" part and thought I messed up due to the apparent deadly pattern. Only advice would be to make that a separate line so it stands out.

Nice puzzle, the coloring approach worked well, sometimes these puzzles are hard to work through that way without multicoloring, this one didn't have that issue.

I would suggest marking the extra regions as 9-sized cages instead, since the gray background interferes with the coloring while cages would not.
