X-Repeat Fillomino

(Published on 21. May 2021, 13:45 by MagnusJosefsson)

This puzzle is a new experimental Fillomino variation that relies heavily on negative restrictions.

Rules

Standard Fillomino rules apply:

* Divide the grid into regions and enter into each cell the size of its region.

* No two region of the same size may share an edge.

X-Repeat rules apply:

A cell with a value X has an arrow in a particular direction if and only if:

* the next X cells in that direction all have the same value and

* either the (X+1)th cell has a different value or the edge is reached after X cells

ALL POSSIBLE ARROWS ARE GIVEN.

Superb puzzle, definitely 5 stars for me as it seemed easy to miss things. The negative constraint was something else. How ever many times I thought I had found everything, and needed a clue, suddenly I would spot something. Thanks Magnus.

Very nice puzzle (again) !
The negative constraint kept me on the lookout the whole time, and I never ceased to marvel at how well you made it work here.

Strangely, answer check in Penpa wasn't triggered even if I had all the digits/numbers and borders in the right places.

Thank you Christounet! It's been really cool to see you work your way through my puzzles so quickly. Thanks also for taking the time to write a nice comment when you like a puzzle. Nice feedback like yours really makes me happy and also gives me more input into what sort of setting to focus on going forward. /Magnus

I genuinely loved this ruleset so much. I would gladly do this again on a larger grid :)

Loved it! The negative constraint was a weighty one to get used to, but by the end it was second nature. Had a lot of fun hunting for chances to use it :)

Thank you PixelPlucker, I'm really glad you liked it! :) How did you find the difficulty? Is four stars about right, or do you think it is harder? /Magnus
-----
Pixel: I didn't think there were any outrageously hard steps, but the logic was varied, the solve was fairly long and the rules really made me concentrate. I think 4* is about right :) //// Ok, thanks! :) /Magnus

I hope you'll like this new fillomino variation! The logic is not too complex, but you'll need to make frequent use of the negative restrictions. As always, please post a hidden comment if you get stuck and I'll try to help you with a small hint.
