Introduction: Switcheroo

(Published on 4. May 2021, 02:24 by Genomico)

Switcheroo is a new puzzle type I created. It has a very simple ruleset and is fun to solve. This is an easy puzzle to get familiar with the basic tricks needed to solve a Switcheroo.

Rules: Change two digits in each row and column to other digits (1-6) so that none of the digits appears more than once in a row or column.

The puzzle is also available on Penpa.

Another Switcheroo, with a 8x8 grid and the digits 1-9, can be found here.

Enjoy solving :)

Solution code: Row 5 and column 3 after you have 'switched' the digits (10 digits in total).

Definitely like Hitori, but the shading is backwards because of the gray digits.
Solve hint: color cells that are forced to change gray (so you can't see the digit), color cells that can't change black.

I have to say, it took me way too long to understand how to even solve this. Once I figured out the tricks it was easy I suppose. Can´t wait to try the harder ones now.

Love this idea! Feels like a much more interesting take on Hitori, would love to see more of these~
