Ouroboros

(Published on 20. April 2021, 03:14 by zetamath)

Normal sudoku rules apply.

In the grid above, you are to shade squares to form a single closed loop that is 1 cell wide. The loop may not touch itself even diagonally.

Within each cage in the grid, the shaded squares and the unshaded squares sum to the same number. As usual, digits do not repeat within cages.

The circles contain the number of adjacent cells that are part of the loop. This number includes the cell itself, the orthogonally adjacent squares, and the diagonally adjacent squares. Not all circles are given.

Beautiful puzzle ! The beginning of the solve got me a little cornered... ;) but then it unwound pretty quickly because the rules worked so well together that it felt very natural to juggle with them through the solving process. Thanks a lot for setting these gems.

Brilliant construction with a very nice ruleset. Beginning was hard for me but then it went smootly. Thank you very much.

Very nice. Some fun logic on the way. The different parts of the ruleset work well together - whenever you deduce something through one rule and get stuck, one of the other rules jumps right in and saves the day. :-D

Very fun premise! The arithmetic and shading components are very intertwined. And I love that your solution paths, regardless of difficulty, are always so clear. :)
