Fortress of Archers

(Published on 26. February 2021, 10:00 by Mark Sweep)

Fortress, or min/max cells, is a constraint that is not used too often. So I tried to combine it with arrow sudoku, resulting in this puzzle. I have some ideas on how to combine it with some other variants as well, so feel free to let me know whether it was fun to use this constraint alongside arrows.

Rules:
Standard sudoku rules apply.
Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the circle.
A grey cell with symbols pointing inwards is smaller than all cells adjacent to it. A grey cell pointing outwards is larger than all adjacent digits.

Very good, the classic combination of Arrow Sudoku and Greater than Sudoku.

Conquering this fortress certainly wasn't easy but worth the struggle. This is a nice combination of variants.

Thanks for your comments. It's indeed quite a tough one, but hopefully you managed to find the full logical path. At least I'm glad to hear there was enjoyment in chipping away at this one!

I also find it incredibly hard.

I personally found this very tough, it's an incredibly stubborn grid! I enjoyed chipping away though. The fortress cells were used to great effect. Thanks :)
