Switching Skyscrapers

(Published on 31. January 2021, 17:50 by udukos)

This puzzle is a variant combining Skyscrapers and Switch constraints. The puzzle is inspired by Phistomefel's Switch Sudoku.

Normal Sudoku rules apply. If there are clues outside the grid on both sides of a row or a column, then they represent a switch clue on one side and a skyscraper clue on the other. If there is a clue outside the grid only on one side of a row or a column, it could be either a switch clue or a skyscraper clue. The identity of the clues in both cases has to be deduced by the solver.

Each digit represents a skyscraper a number of storeys high equal to its value. A skyscraper clue indicates how many buildings can be seen from that direction, where higher buildings block the view of lower buildings. A switch clue indicates the number of switches between odd and even numbers in the corresponding row or column. Note the inequality sign in the grid.
