Pencil puzzle sudoku hybrid series #0.5 - 6x6 look-air sudoku
(Published on 28. October 2020, 11:09 by Aspartagcus)
This is a new type of hybrid that I created, between sudoku and look-air. If you are unfamiliar with look-air, check out this link (the rules are very simple):
Look-air rules and example
This puzzle is an easy one to try out before
my more challenging 9x9 one here.
RULES:
- Standard 6x6 sudoku rules apply, except using the digits 0-5.
- Standard look-air rules apply:
+ Shade some cells such that all orthogonally connected regions of shaded cells form perfect squares.
+ Two squares of the same size may not have a direct view of one another, i.e. have a straight line of unshaded cells in between them.
+ Digits in cells without a circle represent the number of shaded cells that share at least one edge with the cell (including the cell itself).
- The number outside the grid is the sum of the cells in the diagonal indicated by the arrow. Digits may be repeated in this diagonal.
Here's a 4x4 grid example using the digits 0-3:
And this is the 6x6 puzzle:
Enjoy!

@bigger: That's why I put it at 1/5 difficulty. :) The idea was to do them in the opposite order, since the break-in in #1 could be a bit challenging.

I have to say, after finishing the #1, this one is so easy

Updated title and revised the rules again.

@Rollo: Okay, I understand the issue now. The + rules are look-air rules, and the - rule below indicates which digits in the grid are considered "numbers in the grid" for the look-air. It could've been worded better, I agree.

Clarified rules.

@Rollo: "Blank" as in that the digits in the circles do not act as clues in the look-air part of the puzzle. They may still be shaded.
Does that help?

The example does not fit the rules:
- Cells marked with a circle are considered blank cells for the look-air.
+ A number in the grid represents the number of shaded cells ... (only cells not marked with a circle?)
