A Lying Stars Mystery Killer

(Published on 24. September 2020, 21:07 by Djmelee3000)

I'm back with the 3rd edition of my Lying Stars ruleset, but this time, mixing in a mystery killer. I have made 3 mystery killers and 2 Lying Stars puzzles and have gotten great feedback on all of them, so why not combine them! I hope you enjoy the combination and let me know how it goes (should be between 3 and 4 stars depending on your familiarity with these rules). Good Luck!

Lying Stars 1
Lying Stars 2

Rules:
•Normal sudoku rules apply.
•Every cage in the grid will add up to the same number (to be determined), unless acted upon by a star.
•The yellow stars within or attached to killer cages indicate the amount the cage total is off by (if the total is 25 and the star is 5, then the real total is either 20 or 30).
•Stars can be any number, it is not an extra region like the last one.
•Digits in a cage will then add up to the new total, without repeats.
•The black dots only help show which cages the stars are attached to. They are not ratios.

Thanks for this Lying star serrie enjoyed making all 3 puzzles today except for a small hick up on the second puzzle. It is hard to read the extra region rule there. Thanks!

The concept of LS works nice with mystery killers. I Didn't think this one was that much easier than the second one. Nice construction. thanks

Really nice construction! As you know it was quite a slow solve for me but I really enjoyed following the logic around the grid. Great puzzle!

@primovera Thank you! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the ruleset! I agree and will lower it down to 3. If you want a challenge, the second one is the hardest. :)

I didn't know what to expect here as I dove in head first without having tried your previous ones but this was very approachable and a pleasant solving experience as well! I would give it three stars :)
