Liar Sudoku - Everything Is Wrogn

(Published on 18. September 2020, 19:23 by DiMono)

Liar Sudoku is a new variant I came up with recently. I wasn't sure it would be possible to create a 9x9 grid with a unique solution, but I'm glad I stuck with it because I really like this puzzle. It's easily the one that took the most time to set so far. I hope you enjoy it!

Standard sudoku rules apply. However, every clue is lying to you.

  • The thermometer bulb is not where it says it is (but is still on the thermo, and the thermo still can't repeat digits).
  • Killer cages don't sum to the number in the corner.
  • Little killer arrows don't sum the diagonal to the number.
  • X and V clues mean the adjoining cells don't add to 10 or 5 respectively.
  • The palindrome line does not contain a palindrome.
  • Black kropki dots mean neither adjoining cell is half of the other.
  • Maximum cells are not greater than all four adjacent cells.
  • Cells touching quadruple circles do not include all digits within the circle (but may include some of them).

The puzzle that started it all... to be able to tackle it on my own after all this time was a delight. Thank you so much!

All Xs and Vs you need are shown. The grid would be cluttered if all dominos of cells that do not add up to 5 or 10 was filled in! The bulb can be anywhere, also in the middle.

I have some questions about the rules. Are all the X and V's marked? And can the maximum cell be greater than 1 of the adjacent cells? And for the thermometers, can the bulb be in the middle of it or only the ends? and I assume the thermo still increases as it goes? (assuming you know where the bulb is). Theres just so many rules that I am a bit confused hahaha

@ThrowingNinja There is no negative constraint on Xs and Vs. The maximum cell has at least one adjacent cell that is greater than it. Thermo still increases from the bulb, the bulb just isn't in the place shown. It can be in any other cell on the thermometer. Hope this helps!
