LOST Sudoku

(Published on 10. September 2020, 11:55 by Lehran)

This is one of my first puzzles I've created and features a few references to the American tv show 'Lost'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_(TV_series)

Penpa

Standard Sudoku Rules: Each row, column and 9x9 box must contain the digits 1 through 9, digits cannot repeat in a row, column or 9x9 box.

Green Line Rules: Five different digits correspond to the letters "D H A R M", only these digits may appear on the green line.

Outside Grid Clues: The clues outside the grid are either a Sandwich clue or an X-Sums clue, it must be deciphered which type of clue it is.

Sandwich Rules: The clue outside the grid indicates the sum of the digits between the 1 and the 9 in that row or column.

X-Sums Rules: The clue outside the grid indicates the sum of the first X numbers placed in the corresponding direction, where X is equal to the first number placed in that direction.

Clues that contain two letters (e.g. RM) that are not part of an equation are combined to create a single number. e.g. if R=8 and M=9 then RM=89

Equations (in case they're too small to read)

Row 5: D + H + A + R + M + A

Row 6: (M x D) - A

Column 2: M x M

Column 4: AM ÷ R

Solution code: The digits on the Green Line in Row 1 followed by the digits on the Green Line in Row 9.

I never saw Lost and don't know what dharma is, but it was a fun cryptic hybrid for me.

I thought I had broken the puzzle at the AM/R clue. Anyone else who tries this puzzle, remember that AM is a two-digit number (concatenation of A and M) and NOT the product of A and M.

Other than that, it was a nice puzzle with an enjoyable solution path.

whoops, actually fixed tags this time, thanks @SudokuExplorer

@Lehran The sudoku tag is the middle icon on the 7th row (of icons/labels). If you hover your mouse over an icon you will find its name.

This sudoku will get LOST if you don't add the sudoku tag. Do add the tag so that it is easier to find. ;-)

Nice combination of different types and logic! Rules are a bit complex, but solving path is clear.
