Pentomino-Rundreise

(Published on 16. August 2020, 00:23 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is a pentomino-dividing puzzle with a roundtrip-constraint.

About the rules:
  • Every cell of the grid has to be part of exactly one pentomino.
  • Orthogonally adjacent pentominos have to be different from each other (i.e. they cannot be transformed into each other by reflection and rotation).
  • In addition, a round trip has to be drawn into the grid. It runs horizontally and vertically between the centers of cells. It may not cross or touch itself.
  • A clue in a cell indicates how many cells of the according pentomino are passed through by the round trip.
  • Every pentomino contains at most one clue. A pentomino without clue has to be visited by the round trip at least once.
Here is an example on a 7x5 grid for illustration:

Here are all 12 pentominos shown for overview. Many thanks to uvo for the graphics!

Now for the puzzle. It is also available online via Penpa. Have fun solving!

Solution code: For every cell in the 2nd and 7th row lying on the round trip, give the capital letter of the pentomino to which the cell belongs. In the example on the 7x5 grid, the solution code for the 5th column would be 'IPUU'.

fun puzzle, thanks! Don't know how I missed this one for so long...

I kept catching myself singing "One Thing Leads to Another" as I solved this, but I quite enjoyed the logic. The hard part was entering the code on here...

ich möchte sagen, dies war das erste wirklich schwierige Rätsel, das ich je gelöst habe. danke Phistomefel und Cracking the Cryptic! ohne euch hätte ich gar keine Ahnung, das es so ein Rätself geben könnte.

One of my favorite puzzles, and the first puzzle I solved on LMD. I wanted to look back on it and realized I must have first solved it while not yet a member, so I had to run through it again. This puzzle is one of the main reasons that I decided to try setting my first puzzle a few months ago. Many thanks for that!

Echt toll gemacht. Weiter so!

Tolle Konstruktion, sehr schöner Lösungsweg. Die 100% sind absolut verdient, aber die 5 Sterne finde ich etwas übertrieben...

Lasst euch nicht von den 5 Sternen abschrecken!

This was incredibly enjoyable! Didn't struggle with it as much as your other puzzles, but it's a worthwhile challenge nonetheless!

Great puzzle, found on CtC! Really fun and a cool concept. Also, the Google translation for the solution instructions was slightly ambiguous as to whether you submit the 2nd and 7th rows or the columns. It's the rows. (It just says 'lines'.)

Amazing puzzle! Very nice concept.
Interesting till the end. Challenging, but never too complicated that you need large bifurcations.
Such a joy solving it.
Thank you for the puzzle :)

Just joined today and it was my first puzzle that i solved in logic masters. Really loved the puzzle. I had just one mistake while solving which i was able to correct, still the puzzle was quite difficult.

Brilliant puzzle! Consistently difficult, and great in that you have to manage the entire ruleset simultaneously throughout the solve. For me, the puzzle was quite difficult, and it was easy to make mistakes. But I persevered and started over/redid sections a few times because I liked it so much.

Thank you for your nice feedback, emmettcito and jesper! :)

Changed puzzle to avoid ambiguity of the round trip. The solution code is not affected.
