Anti-knight Thermo Sudoku #2 - Thermocouples

(Published on 19. July 2020, 19:57 by RSP)

Everyone needs a friend, even thermometers!

Rules are as follows:

  1. Normal sudoku rules apply.
  2. Cells separated by a knight's move (in chess) may not contain the same digit.
  3. Digits increase along thermometers, starting at the bulb end.

You can try it out here if you'd like.
I hope you enjoy!

Gosh so much conversation on this thread! I hope it doesn't dilute in the author's mind what an excellent impression this puzzle has made. Finally had a chance to solve it...

Absolutely fascinating entanglement of the thermometers. Definitely one of the top 3 Thermo sudokus I have solved this year. Congratulations.

Great puzzle! I loved how the thermometers connected to each other with the antiknight constraint. Thanks!

@RSP I would recommend using the most-used tags. So when you create a puzzle, you can see on the right the most-used tags (most-used at the top, least-used at the bottom). In this case, the "Anti-Knight" tag will do just fine. Unfortunately, for killer sudokus, there are two very-used tags. Hopefully this does not happen for anti-knight puzzles. Maybe you can keep the "Anti-Knight" tag and remove all the other anti-knight tags.

Also a "sudoku" symbol and an "Anti-Knight" tag is enough to tell that it is a sudoku with the anti-knight constraint. Maybe the forum admins can provide recommendations for the use of tags, so that we don't have too many very similar tags. Another recommendation for the admins might be to merge the two "Killer" and "Killersudoku" tags (that would be very convenient). I was a little overwhelmed with which tags to use when I created my first puzzle (I only put a few related icons without any written tags).

My recommendation is: Do not use any tags for variants, instead write the variant in the title, as you have it already done.
The current number and different writings makes it more or less senseless to use the tags for searching Sudokus.
You can use the "Advanced Search", enter "knight" as search text, and select the "Sudoku" icon. Thats all you need to find the knight-Sudokus.

The same holds for e.g. thermometers. Btw, "Thermometers" is a puzzle type (see the Puzzle-Wiki) that is very different from Sudoku. So anyone, who searches for Thermometer-puzzles finds mainly Sudokus :-(

I was unsure which tag to put as there are a few for anti-knight. I just want it easy to find for anyone looking for anti-knight sudokus. For future reference, which should I use?

There are some aspects to identify puzzles/sudokus I don't want to solve. Tag spamming is one.
