Aquarium Sudoku

(Published on 20. June 2020, 13:07 by Sam Knott)

-Normal irregular sudoku rules apply (1-9 in each row, column, and marked region)

-Each region is also an aquarium, and the cells must be coloured green (air) or blue (water) according to the following rules:

Any cells in the same row and region must be the same colour

Any green cells must be above any blue cells in a region

All regions must have at least one air and one water cell, except for two regions (to be determined) that are flooded, and thus only water

-In each region, the digits in water cells must all be larger than the digits in air cells.

-"Additionally, if a row of a region contains only a consecutive set of digits, then they must appear in either ascending or descending order."

Solution code: Enter all the digits of the 3rd row, then the 8th row, with no spaces

It is amazing how the combination of two puzzle types that aren't among my favorites can result in this intresting and entertaining puzzle. Well done!

I like the fact that figuring out the aquariums were quite tricky by itself, and after that, the irregular sudoku still wasn't trivial to solve.
