Negative And A Half Puzzle #1

(Published on 10. June 2020, 02:52 by RockyRoer)

The Rules:

  • Standard sudoku rules apply.
  • In addition, in every row, column and block there are three special cells. Two cells have 'halves' added to them: e.g. 7 1/2. The other special cell has been made negative.
  • Standard killer sudoku rules apply. The cages contain the sum of the cells inside, including their special effects. (e.g. 1 1/2 + 7 1/2 = 9 or 5 + 4 + -7 = 2).
  • If a cage contains special cells, it either be a single negative sign, or two halves. The cages will not contain a number and its opposite, nor it's 'and a half'. For example:
    • A cage can not contain 3, 3 1/2, and 5.
    • A cage can not contain 3, -3 and 8
    • A cage can not contain -4, 2 1/2 and 8 1/2.
  • The numbers on the outside of the grid are the sum of the cells "sandwiched" in between but not including the halves. For example:
    • The row 1 2 3H 4 5 6H 7 -8 9 could have a 9 outside.
    • The row 1 2 3H 4 -5 6 7H 8 9 could have a 5 outside.

Nice puzzle, thanks. Perhaps the first instance of what is now known as negators and similar variants?

Nice. The last few weeks I've occasionally been looking for puzzles with less than 15 solves just to try them out. This was one of them. It's not always as good as this one though...

*** I do the same... advanced search for 13, or 14, 15, solves and no rating... :-) Thanks!
