Killer Sudoku #4

(Published on 17. April 2020, 10:16 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is a classic killer Sudoku, which I actually didn't want to publish at all. I thought that it could only be solved properly with a trick I had discovered (I'll briefly describe it in a hidden comment). But fortunately uvo found a nice solution without the trick and encouraged me to publish the puzzle after all. So thank you very much for your help, uvo!

The usual sudoku rules apply. An area surrounded by a dashed line is called a cage. A number in the upper left corner of a cage indicates the sum of the digits within the cage. Digits may not repeat within a cage.

The puzzle is also available online via F-Puzzles. Have fun solving!

Solution code: 2nd and 8th row

My first Phisomefel solve. Knowing the "Ring" helped enormously.

Feel like I've solved a part of sudoku history.

I use MS Excel and I know lot of other people do too. For the non-rectangular stuff I did before christmas, I started using Inkscape.

@CHalb: Thanks a lot for the link! I have always worked with Tikz and while Tikz is a powerful tool, it is also a bit exhausting to do. Rob's program looks really good at the first glance.

One possibility: Have a look at rob's https://garp.vllmrt.net/puzzles/draw/ and and choose as puzzle type killer.

Wonderful puzzle! I am curious - how does one type this up? Is there a special computer program that can draw these cages?
