Wichtel 2018 (10): HaHeHiHoHoHu

(Published on 7. February 2020, 18:20 by wichtel)

To Christmas 2018 some eager puzzlefriends have again arranged a group in which everybody had to make anonymously a puzzle for someone else. These puzzles are now presented one after the other here in the portal.

As late on Christmas evening Christian* wanted to go to bed he heard loud rattling outside. Curiously he opened the front-door and found Santa Claus trying to stuff a large envelope into Christian's mail box. "Well," Christian said aloud, "you're on your way quite late!" Santa Claus looked at him guilty. "Ho, Ho, Ho, Christian. Very good, that you are still awake." With heavy steps he stumped right to the door, laid his thick present bag down and handed the envelope to Christian. "Here I have a late present for you!" Full of expectation Christian tore the envelope open and examined the colourful printed sheet. "Very well, a puzzle, probably crytified Japanese Sums! Splendid! That's so great, thanks a lot!" He looked more carefully at the puzzle and the hints. O dear, someone let off steam with this, he just thought, yet... "But Santa Claus! There's certainly something wrong with it!" He pointed at a sequence of hints "Is this kind of 'knapp daneben', or something alike?" he asked. "No, no", answered Santa Claus, "actually total normally cryptified Japanese Sums with digits 1 to 9". He looked slightly embarrassed. "You know, originally I wanted to give you a skyscraper puzzle and had already started to set hints, when our chief gnome came and said for you had been originally planned a Japanese Sums. Well, so I quickly rearranged things into another puzzle. Unfortunately I forgot to erase the skyscraper hints. And now I do not know anymore, which numbers were skyscraper hints". "Ok", said Christian. "So you mean among the hints for the Japanese Sums there are additional some skyscraper hints as well?" "Yes, exactly", said Santa Claus, "but you have to figure out yourself, where they are and what values they have." "Well, that seems to be feasible!" said Christian optimistically and - considering the cold - invited Santa Claus to a cup of punch into the kitchen.
