Wichtel 2014 (4): Tapa im Regen

(Published on 11. February 2015, 20:14 by wichtel)

On Tapa you bet
And rain can be wet.

"What a really wonderful Christmas wish: a Tapa", the chief gnome joyfully exclaims, looking through his pile of wish lists. And immediately he starts:

     TAPA
  + MACHT
  = SPASS

(TAPA IS FUN) he trolls for himself. "And rain makes things wet", grumbles his assistant who is looking the whole day at the silvery raindrops running down the window. "And if you mean this to be an alphametic it is not unique". "Never mind", answers the chief gnome, who won't give up his high spirits easily, "just a few drops. So the good child gets some umbrellas as add-on. And in the case of the alphametic I'm sure a good idea will come to your mind. Add some more letters or something likewise."

Replace the letters ACHMNPST by different digits in order to get a correct calculation. Solve the Tapa with this hint numbers. Furthermore put umbrellas into the empty Tapa cells so that the raindrops falling from the top are diverted to the given drop numbers at the bottom. The widths of the umbrellas is given on the right. For each of the umbrellas a hint is given. Black Tapa cells have no influence upon the raindrops.
(The really hard-boiled solve the umbrella puzzle first.)

Solution code: The values of the 8 letters in alphabetical order (ACHMNPST), for each column the number of umbrellas and finally for each row the length of the longest Tapa segment

Really cool and strange puzzle. The interactions between the tapa and the umbrellas were really fun to derive from first principles, since before doing this puzzle umbrellas as a genre was completely foreign to me.

on 12. February 2015, 11:32 by wichtel
Zu einer verdeckten Frage: Die Tapa-Hinweisfelder sind nicht leer und damit keine Kandidaten für Regenschirmteile.

Sehr hübsch. Regenschirme hatten wir lange nicht! :-)
