Rundwegcousins

(Published on 21. November 2010, 20:53 by pokerke)

Pictured below are two fences (Rundweg) puzzle cousins that are often found playing together side by side. Both are 8x8 fences puzzles that follow the standard rules with the given clues.

Both cousins have a fences-mother, but a different father. Therefore each cousin is also a 4x4 puzzle, where the number (1 to 4, never 0) in each 2x2 cell is equal to how many of the 4 cells are inside the fences puzzle.

One of the two cousins is a standard 4x4 fillomino puzzle, the other is a standard 4x4 skyscraper (Hochhäuser) puzzle following the skyscraper clues in the neighbouring column of the fillomino puzzle as they are pictured below.

Can you figure out which cousin is which and how their respective loops are formed?

Solution code: The size of the areas outside of the loops, clockwise, starting in the top left. First the left puzzle, then the right.

pokerke, after akodis comment to your Rundweg Sudoku Twins I thought about writing a comment, why those are for not JUST to seperate puzzles but an great artwork of logical puzzlemaking. I have a great affection to twins like those (actually I made one of the first ones of such a kind in the portal myself, the Tapa mit und ohne Q). Now I'm almost glad I haven't done that comment. Because you seem to have taken that comment and make an even nicer relation between the two.

Absolutely no problem.

Btw: Now that a read the text again I still recognized a small error in my own translation. In the last sentence one letter is wrong (written capital so you can find it easier): Können Sie herausfinden, welcher der beideN Cousins welchen Vater hat und wie ihre jeweiligen Rundwege verlaufen?

@pokerke: You're welcome. I see that you've changed the "cousin(s)" of my translation to Kusine(n).

In German "Kusine/Cousine" is the female version and "Cousin" is the male version.

As you've now changed the gender of the cousins the last two senteces have to be adjusted a bit: "Eine der beiden Kusinen ist ein Standard-Fillominorätsel, die andere ein Standard-Hochhausrätsel, die außerdem den Fillominozahlen der benachbarten Spalte seiner Kusine als Hochhaushinweise folgt.

@Calavera:
Sorry, I had some contradictory advice (from an online dictionary and another German speaking person). I was both recommended the male and the female with K and with C, so I got completely confused. I should have trusted you all along, now I just went back to your original text. Thanks again!

Not word for word, but quite certainly mentioning every important rule and telling the same story: (Btw: I assumed the areas in the solution code have to be entered in clockwise order...)
