The Curse of the Black Pearl
(Eingestellt am 3. November 2026, 13:09 Uhr von PukuDas)
My first story themed puzzle! Decided to induce a story to it because the setting allowed it. As intimidating as it looks, its not so difficult.
The moonlight breaks through the fog over Isla de Muerta, casting a skeletal glow over the charts. You hold the map to lifting the curse, but Captain Barbossa’s illusions shroud the truth. To break the spell and reclaim the seas, you went to navigate the grid using the strict laws of the pirate crew.
Royal crowns hold no power here. All kings who attempted this voyage never returned.
Nine pristine, identical currents chart their way through the sea. But do not let your eyes fool you, for six are cursed illusions (fake), phantom waters that hold no sway, forcing no order upon the numbers that drift through them. Only three will safely guide your ship across the treacherous waters.
Amidst all this sits the Black Pearl, anchored deep within the misty depths of the lower-left currents. She is the ultimate prize, the sovereign of the dark waters, and the very source of the curse that binds these seas. Capturing her requires absolute mastery of the tides.
Rules
- Classic Sudoku: Place the digits 1 to 9 in every row, column, and 3x3 box without repetition.
- Kropki Dot: Digit separated by the black dot are in a 1:2 ratio.
- (Cursed) Thermometers: Digits along a thermometer strictly increase from bulb to tip. However, exactly three of them given in the puzzle actually behave like normal thermometers, rest do not follow its rules.
- AntiKing: Identical digits cannot appear in cells a chess king’s move apart/cannot touch each other diagonally.

This took me forever with extensive pencilmarking, but I did manage it eventually. I agree with vukkarak that the idea was better than the execution.
Still enjoyable, though!

I think I missed a trick here. I got the dot, but had to resort to trial and error to find the true currents.

I liked the idea more than the solve process.
