Runaround (chaos construction, sum dots)

(Eingestellt am 28. Oktober 2026, 12:02 Uhr von Chilly)

I'm working on a series of chaos construction puzzles using sum dots with a variety of other constraints. Not sure how many there will be yet, because I'm experimenting with a variety of different region-building rules. The first in the series used yin yang to build regions. This is the second one and uses outside clues and run length. It's probably slightly easier than the first. Please enjoy.

    The Rules:

  • Chaos construction: each row, column, and region contains the digits 0–9 exactly once each. A region is an orthogonally connected collection of cells, and regions are to be determined.
  • Outside clues: outside clues indicate the size of a run of contiguous cells in the same region in the corresponding row or column (not necessarily in order). The first number is the size of the *largest* such run, the second number is the size of the *next largest* run, and so on.
  • Examples: a single 3 means that there is *at least* one run three cells in length, and no runs longer than that. Two 3s means that there are *at least* two runs of length three and no longer runs. A 3 and a 2 means there is only one run of length three, and *at least* one run of length two, and so on.
  • Sum dots: digits in cells separated by any dot must sum to the total given in the dot. Cells separated by a yellow dot must be in *different* regions. Cells separated by a green dot must be in the *same* region. Cells separated by a red dot may or may not be in the same region.

Shouldn't red mean "no" and yellow "maybe", instead of the other way around?

---

That would also work - but I was actually thinking about the coloured balls from the gameshow 'Runaround' I used to watch as a kid. The yellow balls were the most important in the game.

Smooth CC part. Sudoku part a bit more tricky because of the 0 intruder. Very nice. Thanks
