Stronger in Unity

(Eingestellt am 15. Januar 2026, 19:50 Uhr von Kafkapharnaum)

You are presented here with a Latin Square that, with its one variant, has over 5,000 possible solutions, among which you must find the “Correct” one.
You are also presented with two slightly different Chaos Construction rules that, applied individually to this grid, cannot produce a unique solution. But by combining the two and having them work together in collaboration, you can find the correct solution to all three.

This is essentially a slight variation on the Pairdoku concept, so by all means, feel free to team up with a partner and solve it as such, but this is not necessary as in fact the puzzle was designed to be played as a dual grid (multi-grid) puzzle. Big thanks once again to earthpuzzles for testing!

Through some almost absurd coincidence, it seems like Manta-Ray has come up with a very similar (though not quite the same) concept puzzle at essentially the exact same time, and in a 9x9 format to boot, so if you feel like 'levelling' up after this one, you can find MR's puzzle here.

RULES

ZIPPER LINES
• Digits an equal distance from the (dotted) center of a lavender line must sum to the digit in the center of that line.

CHAOS CONSTRUCTION
Using two distinct iterations of the same grid:
• For each grid, divide the grid into 6 regions, each made of 6 orthogonally connected cells, such that each row, column and 6 cell region contains the digits 1 to 6 exactly once each.
— In the top (or left) grid, every cell of any given line must belong to same region.
— In the bottom (or right) grid, for each line, cells that are the same distance from the (dotted) center of the line must belong to the same region, cells at different distances must belong to different regions, and the center must be in a distinct region by itself.
Latin Square: Digits must be entered such that without their Chaos Construction borders, the two grids would show the same Latin Square solution, that is, the same sudoku solution as adhering to rows and columns requirements only.

Play the puzzle as a dual grid on Sudokupad

Play the puzzle as a Pairdoku on Sudokupad using the Top grid rules
Play the puzzle as a Pairdoku on Sudokupad using the Bottom grid rules

Lösungscode: Using "-" (minus symbol) to indicate non edge region borders: the digits in column 4 of the top (left) grid, read ↓ , followed by the digits in row 5 of the bottom (right) grid, read →

Very nice idea and setting! Liked it quite a lot, flowed very smoothly. After your doppelgängers it felt like a walk in the park though.

Thank you for your feedback and kind words, glad you enjoyed!
This puzzle is in large part a test of method and notation, and so you must be scoring high in these if you had an easy time with it, well done! :D
