Another attempt at "approachable" for a doppleganger, but I certainly failed there. Hope you all enjoy! Thanks to all that tested.
DOPPELGÄNGER SUDOKU:
- Fill each cell of the main 6x6 grid such that every row, column and 2x3 box contains a 0 and five different digits from 1-6.
- No two rows, no two columns and no two boxes may be missing the same digit.
- For each 0 in the grid, the digits missing in its row, column and region must be three different digits.
- The notes area outside the grid must filled in with the digits that are missing from the corresponding row/column/box.
DOPPELGÄNGER NUMBERED ROOMS:
- A digit on the edge of the grid must also be seen in position N inside the grid in that row/column, where N is the missing digit for the row/column.
- For instance, if row 1 is missing a 2 then the 0 clue says row 1 column 2 is a 0 and the 1 clue says row 1 column 5 is a 1.

What a pleasure seeing so many setters creating new variants of Doppelganger puzzles!
Having solved "Thinking in square rooms" the combination of DG with the numbered room concept was familiar for me. That for this one was quite approachable and max. 3 stars. The only hurdles was to find the digit missing in c4. By chance I tried the right one first, so the solve was very smooth. How could I've found the right digit more logically? I really would appreciate if you would share the intended solving path in a hidden comment. Thanks!

I’m confused about the last half of the final rule - how do we know that r1c5 is a 1 in the example?

Because the 1 clue on the right says that 1 is 2 steps away from the 1 clue if a 2 is missing in that row.
