The digit on a pumpkin indicates exactly how many instances of that digit it can see in both diagonal directions combined (including itself).
No two pumpkins contain the same digit.

Sometimes I understand why it is useful to read rules until the end: "No two pumpkins contain the same digit." makes things easier
