(Eingestellt am 8. September 2025, 16:30 Uhr von ChinStrap)

My first shot at one of the Tessellation puzzles invented by juggler. Thanks to juggler and aqjhs for testing!

Rules:

TESSELLATION:

  • Fill each cell with a digit from 1-9.
  • Cells sharing an edge can't have the same digit.
  • Each horizontal row and vertical column contains a non-repeating consecutive set of digits (like 23456) in any order.
SKYSCRAPERS:
  • Outside clues count how many digits are 'seen' looking into the grid in the direction of the arrow.
  • Digits are seen when they are strictly larger than all digits before them.
  • If a digit has multiple arrows, the clue counts for each arrow separately.

All feedback (positive or critical) appreciated!

Lösungscode: Row 5, left to right (9 digits)

wowzers! That was hard!

I really enjoyed the interaction of the skyscraper rule with the tessellation, especially the diagonal skyscrapers, which kept having surprises.

The one thing I didn't enjoy was how much it was a "hand to hand combat" kind of puzzle, where you work hard to eliminate every digit. I might have missed an elegant solve path (I often do). But unless I missed a lot of elegant logic, then it's like some thermo puzzles, which require a lot of iteratively finding one digit that can't happen, and repeating this for a lot of steps, unless the puzzle falls into shape. I personally don't enjoy those, because it feels like I'm not using any clever realization, just scanning repeatedly. But again, maybe I missed a lot of elegant paths.

In either case, thank you for this ChinStrap, it was hard but enjoyable! And lots of surprises on the way! :)

This was quite tricky to even get the first digits, and then kept resisting quite far into the solve. Thanks for sharing.
