  • Every row, column, and box contains an empty cell always, as well as eight out of the nine digits from 1 to 9 (ie, it's missing one digit)
  • No two row, no two column, and no two box may be missing the same digit.
  • For each empty cell in the grid, the digits missing in its row, its column, and its box must be three different digits.
• Full Rank:
  • The digits on columns and rows, read in both directions, make a total of 36 eight-digit numbers.
  • Clues outside the grid show the rank in ascending order among those 36 numbers for the indicated column or row in the direction of the cell.
  • Lowest number has rank 1 and highest number has rank 36.
  • There are no ties in rank.
