Binary Sum Arrows

(Eingestellt am 29. Juni 2025, 14:48 Uhr von RockyRoer)

The Rules:

  1. Normal sudoku rules apply.
  2. Color the grid such that every odd cell is one color and every even cell is a different color.
  3. Arrows are NOT normal arrows, but contain "binary sums". Each cell along the arrow is a bit, starting with the most significant bit and going to the least significant. If a cells contents are odd, that put a 1 in that bit, and if a cells contents are even, that puts a zero in that bit. The digits in the bulb of the arrow are that sum expressed as a one or two-digit decimal number read from left-to- right or top-to-bottom.
    • Ex: A five cell arrow would have a 16's bit, an 8's bit, a 4's bit, a 2's bit, and a 1's bit. Cells with odd odd even even odd along that arrow would then give a binary sum of 16 + 8 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 25.

Lösungscode: The digits on the column with the lowest binary sum, from top to bottom. In the example puzzle, that would be column 6 with a binary sum of 7, so 426351

Bit for bit this is an amazing puzzle and a beautiful exercise using the binary number system. (I’m used to give 3* when most solvers give only two, but this time it’s the other way round…) Thank you very much for creating and sharing another one of your lovely math puzzles.

Really great puzzle. Love what you did with this ruleset - only slightly mad that you did it so fast! ;)

This is not as scary as the ruleset may suggest, do give it a go.
