How Shall We Split This?

(Eingestellt am 20. März 2025, 17:15 Uhr von marty_sears)

This is my twist on Equal Split Lines, introduced recently by gdc and sujoyku.

    Rules:

    Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • Each line is divided into segments at 'split points', to be located. Every cell lies fully within one segment.
  • Each segment along a line has the same sum, but this sum can be different for different lines.
  • Digits MAY repeat along a segment, if allowed by sudoku.
  • The digit in a green circle indicates the number of split points on that line.

Please leave a comment if you enjoy :)

Questionable level of bifurcation at the end for me to untangle the last line, I just couldn't keep enough mental math and digits ruled out in my head without actually trying it out. Surely there was some trick I missed, but other than that personal hiccup I loved it!

Great puzzle. Sure seems daunting at first sight but is in fact really gentle, taking solvers by the hand at each step. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely puzzle. I liked the total coverage, and the use made of it in particular. A nice way to keep the difficulty down without removing the need for some neat deductions.

Brilliant as always. Amazing how you come up with new rule sets every time.

Only place I got slightly confused was in rule 1 "...certain cell EDGES crossed by a line"
...but in box 6, there's a split in a corner

Marty: you must not have refreshed the page, I changed that wording a few days ago. Thanks for the nice comment :)

Loved it! For me it got progressively more difficult, but remained smooth and interesting throughout.

Another classic mad man Marty twist. Nice break in and smooth rewarding progress all the way through. Love how every cell is on a line, great setting yet again!

I have to agree with Garizon how the first "tutorial" line really got you going and get acquainted with the rules.

After that it was more or less slow and steady.

Very nicely done!

Utterly brilliant puzzle! The constraint makes you think in very interesting ways that were wholly novel to me.

For a puzzle that took me as long as it did this was remarkably smooth solving. The way the puzzle eases you into the constraint really builds confidence. Another brilliant puzzle Marty.

Your twist brought the new lines constraint up to the next level! Absolutely beautiful setting for another wonderful and approachable puzzle. Thank you very much for creating and sharing this one.

I would say that this puzzle is both hard and easy at the same time. Another masterpiece. Thank you, marty_sears!

Very interesting and fun! I like how you managed to cover the whole grid with the lines without making it too easy.

One of these clues is very silly and one of these clues is very subtle and the fact that both are in the same puzzle makes me happy :D

I love how clear the solution path seemed to be revealed, it felt a bit like a fog of war puzzle - really enjoyed this! In the beginning I kept getting tripped up by making fencepost errors and I had to start over at one point as a result ^^'

I more or less expected this to be 'messy', but it is really very smooth. Great puzzle.
